Crafty Ways to Use Food Photos in Scrapbooks
Say Cheese! (And Chocolate.)
Do you love food? Do you love photographing food almost as much as eating those delicious, drool-worthy dishes? If you’ve ever made your friends pause—forks hovering mid-air—so you can grab “just one more shot,” then trust me… you’re among friends.

I can easily take dozens of food photos during a single restaurant meal or dinner party. I spend so much time styling, framing, and snapping these little edible masterpieces… yet for years, they rarely made it past a quick social media post. They definitely weren’t making their way into my scrapbooks.
But here’s the thing: food photos are tiny treasures. They’re colorful, they’re beautifully plated, and they tell stories—stories of family gatherings, holiday traditions, grandma’s recipes, favorite cafés, and cozy nights in. Food is connection, comfort, culture… and that makes it perfect for scrapbooking. Especially in the gorgeous new Creative Memories Recipe Albums!
A Grid Layout: The Secret to Showcasing Tons of Photos

If you’re like me and tend to overshoot (literally!), a simple grid layout is an absolute game-changer.
For the layout featured here, I used a grid with 1.5″ x 1.5″ squares. Most of my photos were printed to fit a single square, and then I sprinkled in coordinating designer paper for that splash of crafty color. I also sized a few photos to 3″ x 1.5″ (to span two squares) and created one standout 3″ x 3″ feature photo that covered four squares.
That larger photo is the “ta-da!” moment on the page—your visual spotlight that draws the eye and highlights a loved one or your favorite dish.
Quick and Easy: Using Happy Album Planner Pages

To make this layout come together in a snap, I grabbed a few calendar pages from the Creative Memories Happy Album Planner Kit. (Little tip from me to you: save the cute calendar stickers for another project!)
The calendar grid becomes your layout grid. I simply created a cardstock border to cover the days of the week and—voilà!—a clean, colorful backdrop for my foodie collage. The “Notes” section made the perfect ready-made journaling block for capturing the story behind the meal.
Easy Photo Sizing with Canva
If the idea of resizing photos makes you want to run for the nearest bakery, fear not! Canva makes it incredibly easy to size your images to exact dimensions. I like adding several mini-photos to one 4×6 project so I can print them all at once on a single sheet of photo paper. Quick, efficient, and photo-paper-friendly!
